Les Jardins de Kermeur was built in 2024 on a disused caravan field which had been mowed and used for summer camping over the last 30 years.

The soil is a fine grained sand with low levels of organic matter and a shortage of most key nutrients – especially phosphorous – and extremely low levels of soil biological activity.  The challenge has been to kickstart the soil biology – to improve its diversity and activity.  This was done with addition of over 160 tonnes of woodchips and compost.  The compost was inoculated with a drench rich in soil micro-organisms.

The first harvests were in July 2026 with direct sales at the Camaret-sur-Mer Tuesday markets.  The quality of the produce has exceeded our expectations with excellent customer feedback on both high levels of flavour and shelf-life.

We will be adding soft fruit to the range over the coming years and continuing our focus on “boutique” which are difficult to find locally.  Our most sort after vegetables are all types of fresh herbs, exotic salads and “les amours en cage”.
